4.0L block question

Post by ruffy01 »

Long story short:
I have a built '94 XJ Sport (locked, 4.11's, 4.5" lift, 33's) & a stocky '96 XJ Limited, the plan was to rebuild/stroke the '96 while keeping the Sport on the road as my DD & offroader.
The Sport's engine has just started burning oil & is a little noisey, I had planned on selling it as a healthy car once the '96 was built. My thoughts now, pull the engine from the '96 (still healthy) & drop it into the Sport then rebuild/stroke the Sport's '94 engine for the '96 (my keeper).

I know the '94 isn't an NVH block, no stud girdle, the '96 is.
I'm building a 4.7L long rod that will only occasionally see the rev limiter, 5200RPM (I'm an old drag racer ;) I will cane it every so often ) but mainly touring & offroad.
Is the '94 block a compromise or not worth worrying about at all?

Cheers,
Ruffy
