Fresh Coated Banks Header!

Post by 6TIME »

I just got my new Banks Revolver header back from the coating guys. It Turned out much better than I had expected.
If you haven't seen this new header design, it differs from the traditional aftermarket 3-2-1 header tube orientation, having all primaries dump into one large collector. They claim that the cracking issue is resolved with this new style. I will definitely be putting this one through the crack test.... They are also saying that this ceramic coating will reduce radiant heat 50-60%. It's replacing an old Borla that has a 2-1/4" outlet diameter with fairly small collectors. The Borla has been cracked and re-welded at least 6 times and it sounds like it's cracked again lol. I guess its had a good life tho, pushing 140k since installing it used.. The Banks unit has a straight thru 2.5" Id outlet which should help the 4.6 breathe better. I did tig a 2.5" dia. stub flange onto the outlet so I could slip on a standard 2.5" donut style gasket. They claim some decent dyno gains with this header compared to their older design. Those tests were conducted on a stock 4.0. So the gains should be a bit more evident on any stroker motor. Enjoy.

It looks great. Somewhere down the line I'd like mine to be at least 2.5" from the header to the tail, instead of the 2.25" header, s-pipe, and test pipe to 2.5" muffler and tail.
