Complete 505 Performance stroker
I hydrolocked my motor a few weeks ago and have been looking at options for motors since. I think I have decided to go with the 505 Performance motor. I haven't seen a ton of reviews on them and most of the time no news means good news so I'm going to try them out. Titan has the best prices but I couldn't believe how many people had problems with them. I couldn't buy something like that and be worried every time I turned the key. Hesco is way out of my price range and Blueprint doesn't make a motor for my 02 Wrangler. Golen seemed like a good choice but for the extra $500 I would rather get the 505 and put that money towards exhaust or something. I know this post doesn't have much substance to it now. I plan to post my entire experience with 505 on here from the first phone call until the 100,000 mile mark. I put about 2k miles on the jeep a years, it should take a while to get to 100k. If anyone has any horror stories of why I shouldn't go with 505 I'm open ears. Thanks for reading, I hope this post helps someone make an informed decision in the future.

He he, most of us and our Jeeps aren't going to be around 50 years from now to find out if your 505 Performance stroker survived to the 100k mile mark. My homebrew "poor man's" stroker has just passed the 70k mile mark and at the rate I'm going (5k miles/year) I'll reach the 100k-mile mark 44 years earlier than you.Julesfools wrote:I plan to post my entire experience with 505 on here from the first phone call until the 100,000 mile mark. I can't speak much about 505 themselves, but fixing their tuning is sure keeping me busy...

Re: Complete 505 Performance stroker
I didn't go with the 505 performance stroker. After talking with ATK I decided they are better suited for my needs. My motor should be here in three days, and I'll update the thread as I go. I went with the basic stroker, its not anything to write home about. I think that it will be plenty of motor for my crawler, she's not a trailer queen but close. Does anyone have any opinions about exhaust? I'm contemplating going with a header but I'm not too sure how much it would help. I'm not the most motor savvy person around and don't claim to be. Either way, My motor was the last factory thing on my jeep to be modified. I'm happy to be part of the stroker crew even if I don't have the biggest or baddest stroker. I won't be winning any baja races with her but I'll give you a run for your money on the rocks.

I think you made the right choice.
As for exhaust go with a 2.5". Stainless is up to you if you want the extra cost. Keep in mind that there are a few different types used in exhausts, some will develope rust, some won't. As for the muffler that is personal preference as well. I prefer the sound of Magnaflow. I never cared for flowmasters.

I have both. Flowmaster in the middle, Magnaflow at the rear, and no cat.SilverXJ wrote:I prefer the sound of Magnaflow. I never cared for flowmasters.

Re: Complete 505 Performance stroker
i have had lots of problems with 505 perf roller cam setup they offer..see my thread in the stroker and performance section titled "who had luck with 505 roller ..i didnt"..would not know about there stroker kit but i bought a set of stock prepped rods that had crappy work done to them like polishing running cross ways with the rods instead of long ways the leanth of the rod..every time i recieved parts from them there is also a little red dirt in the packaging.my impression talking to the owner is he tells you what you want to hear to make a sell.for example i do not think the 505 roller setup has the r and d that he claims it had.however the guy does seem very knowledgeable about the jeep motor and maybe his stroker setup is good..if you do get one have a good machinist check it out and send it back if it aint right.505 was good about warranty parts out lol.if you get one let us know how every thing looks.

Re: Complete 505 Performance stroker
i would pass on 505 stuff.nothing but problems.ships in 5-10 days i dont think so.how about 5 months!and i have the receipts to prove it.plus wrong parts, poor quality machining, and just remember this is a project cause that is the answer for everything that doesnt fit from them!and dont even waste your time getting the tuning from them!!!so buyer beware.
