Which is the first groove piston ring on the IC944KTM set?

Post by Alexia »

Which one is the top ring on this IC944KTM set? Unfortunately the 3875AM8 box set stores the first and second groove rings in the same second with a piece of paper roughly shoved in there that only makes it more vague. I want to say the shiny faced rings are the moly rings for the first grove, but I never actually saw a set of piston rings before.

Shiny ones go in the top ring groove. They also may have an orientation (which side is up, down).

Then the second groove rings do have the orientation. Thanks! Yeah, I was about to get all ring install happy last night when I encountered the mixed up rings in the box. I just needed to be absolutely sure.
