Partial Rebuild Questions

Post by cigarluvr »

So I ended up having to replace my crankshaft due to a damaged thrust bearing and crank journal. My question is...what else should I replace while I have it apart? Can I reuse the head gasket? The motor only has 2500 miles on it and everything else looked good.

I've heard of copper head gaskets and MLS head gaskets being reused but I don't think it's a good idea.

Did you take the head off?
If you did, are you willing to risk a failure for a $40 part?
