Re: Cam/Bearing failures revisited.
New to this forum, but several months ago I had a #3 lifter/lobe failure at the moment I can't remember if it was intake or exhaust. I had approximately 12,000 miles on this engine. It was using the Crane 753905 with the Mopar springs retainers and locks and a standard oil pump. This was an engine I put together in late 2002, but didn't start driving regularly until 2010. I was wondering if people are still seeing the problems with cams/lifters that were made more recently. I am still considering the Crane 753901 or Lunati 63501. I did tear my whole engine down to inspect and found some light scoring on the crank that the machine said was still in limits after just a polishing.

Re: Cam/Bearing failures revisited.
I had a no.6 intake lifter/lobe failure on the same cam 6 years ago after 34k miles on the stroker but I believe that in my case the no.6 exhaust lifter collapsed first, lost its spring, spring got lodged in the no.6 intake lifter bore preventing the lifter from spinning, and wiped out the corresponding cam lobe. The cam itself still looked like new except for that flattened lobe.glass cj wrote:New to this forum, but several months ago I had a #3 lifter/lobe failure at the moment I can't remember if it was intake or exhaust. Re: Cam/Bearing failures revisited.
I had seen your previous post on that as well. My lifter was still intact, but worn through the bottom. All of the other lifters and lobes looked fine except for the one. So have there still been the issues like these that seemed to come up more several years ago. I wasn't using any zinc additives.
