Seems that this is a frequently reaccuring phenomenon.
I am curious, what made you want to use your current machine shop? Seeing as they have apparently screwed you.
Just for a little back story on my part, there are two machine shops in my area. NOT including my current one, i didnt know of it at the time.
The first one was not polite, seemed like i was wasting their time and way pricey. So no go on #1. For the second place, the folks were very nice, seemed like they had a decent business, with a good amount of customers. As i got to know them, A. lazy as all get out B. had, what i would consider to be, kids doing the machining and C. still charged quite alot. After about a month of "we'll get around to it" I said Thanks, but no thanks. So I sat on my stuff for about a week or two asked around and was told of some old secret millionaire, doing engines for select customers out in a giant shop behind his house. One very pleasent visit later, I dropped my stuff off and never regretted it since. I can drop by anytime and get treated like i am family. Ask any question, help with other peoples builds and learn every aspect of engine building from one of the most brilliant men i have ever met. Oh and he costs a lot less to, thats a plus.
I think this thread has been officially hijacked,

Re: Just got my stroker back.. Now the questions
Well there are only a few reputable machine shops in my area. There are a bunch of other that are capable but have a shakey track record. I didnt wanna take it to a place like napa and this guy is a sprint car and circle track Guru. I was very pleased in the begining with his shop knowledge, and willingness to do the work but the further we got into the project the more it turned into a game of phone tag and i felt like i had to tell him what i wanted over and over and over. If he would have just written it down from the get go i would have been much less burdened by the constant back and fourth. I have a buddy that works for him and is also dating his daughter so after a chat with him and what seemed like a guy that had a great set up going i decided to go with him....ftpiercecracker1 wrote:Seems that this is a frequently reaccuring phenomenon.![]()

I think that he knew at the end of the build that i was a little peeved and the price for my 4.6 out the door was as follows
500$ for all parts(bearings gaskets pistons etc..) EXCEPT Crank and rods which i sourced from a friend for free
940$ for machine work which was hot tank, line hone, bored 0.30, decked, cam bearings, rod reconditioning.
Orignially $500 for assembly which he did for Next to nothing on the final as my final bill was
$1500. So All aside i am pleased so far with the engine and his build but he needs to work on communication. That is my only issue other than that awesome person and engine seems to run well so far.

I'm amazed why jackasses feel they have to resort to this.
