It has been known to damage the header pipes. I would recommend a header blanket instead and some self adhesive heat reflective material on the bottom of the intake manifold. Such as DEI Gold or Lava mat.

I've heard that also. The pipes simply get too hot and are unable to cool. Metal then breaks down.
Best to check with the coating manufacturer, but I've read they won't warranty their coatings if they're wrapped. Some also recommend doing the engine break-in without coated exhaust as the coating may be damaged by high temps.

good information here, although im going to have to pass on the not using the header for break in because i dont feel like taking the intake back off, that thing kinda sucks. going to use some brad penn oil for the break in. i was talking to a few guys at work about this stuff and the one guy that builds circle track cars says he just uses B.P. oil. and the other who built a couple engines for his drag mustang just uses cheap 10w30 breaks in the engine and then switches to a decent 10w30

100% correct. Most header companies won't warranty the header is it has been wrapped also.
