Clevite cam bearing oil relief?? -Pics

Post by Torqsplit »

Clevite.jpg
Did some searching and couldnt find any mention of this. Got a set of Clevite/Mahle 1980S cam bearings for a '92 block and noticed one of them has a machined relief on the back of the bearing @the oil-feed hole. havent mic'd it yet to see what position it'll be intalled @(would imagine #3) its one of the full groove bearings. I'm very concerned what effect this'll have on my oil psi. bearings i removed did NOT have this. Trying to instal these tonight tonight, so if anyone can advise i'd be greatful!

Checking some things...if this goes in #3 position @ the usual 20* orientation, the angle of the chamfer/relief could serve to spray oil on the distributor gear. could be a benefit.

That should be for the first position. They are numbered on the back of the bearing.
