Quick question about 4.0 heads
So quick rundown I tore into the motor on my 1997 TJ because I had a cracked piston in the number 1 cyl. Was going to just throw some new pistons rings and bearings in it to keep it running for a few months while I save up to build a stroker. But as I cleaned up the head I realized it has a crack in it so now I need to address this issue. I am wondering if I can put a head on the 4.0 with larger valves that I will clearly need when I build the stroker. Also if anyone has one or recommends a particular company to get a head from. I can't afford to go with an aluminum one or anything like that. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

Re: Quick question about 4.0 heads
My opinion would be to pay someone who knows what they are doing to clean up the ports a bit. There is plenty of valve size there to handle more flow. To me bigger valves are a waste unless you are going to race.

Re: Quick question about 4.0 heads
I have not removed the valves yet but from what i can see the crack starts at the edge of the intake valve and runs about a inch and a half toward the intake port.
