200' sand drags? 4.53645 seconds is my guess ( if you lighten it up 4 or 5 hundred pounds by cleaning it ! ).

We race 150ft in Fairplains, and she ran a 5.29. She had some idling issue's again and it ran like crap. I had it hooked up to a computer the other day and the ambient temp sensor was bad (I had it in the airbox) and the TPS was working,,but real slow to respond. It runs alot better now but we'll see, Racing 89 do you think it's possible were getting too much bite and pulling the motor out of it's power range? Were running 33 boggers, welded rear and here's a pic of her coming through the lights and it looks like it's hooking real good and all the other jeeps were flat like they were driving and not pulling...Make sense?

No such thing as too much traction. Looks like good weight transfer too. Have you thought of getting a converter ? Do you have the line pressure cable hauled the whole way out and tied up?( really firms-up the shift)

Your "sand" drags kinda resemble mud to me. A stroked jeep running properly and getting good traction, shouldnt be beat by ANY "stock" truck.( unless its an srt grand)

Yea I have the detent cable pulled out, I haven't found any converters for a AW4. Been looking at having one built though.. I am still running stock top end and I noticed that the plugs looked lean when I had them out the other day. Are stock injectors hurting me? Do I have enough with a 4.6 and stock top end to run 24lbs injectors?

As u know ,there are hundreds of combos on this site, but not necessarily one that would work for your exact application. The 24's might seem initually rich, but at w.o.t. ( where the pedal is 95% of the time in a full race application) they would definetly be a step in the right direction.( lean is bad!) There are plenty of ways to tune, but reading your plugs can be as accurate as any, and inexpensive. Speaking of inexpensive, any trans/torque manufacturer/rebuilder, can build a stock converter to max stall without spending more than 300.00jonb8 wrote:Yea I have the detent cable pulled out, I haven't found any converters for a AW4. It just doesn't seem to get off the line very well and it doesn't start pullining hard till 3000+rpms. Just wonder if less bite would blow the tires off and get her around 3000 without a stall. My old MJ beat her saturday with nearly bald 35's, actually I beat everyone and won the speed pit and the sand drags...Just making me think HHHHHHMMMMMMMM

Quick question guy's, I put a set of 24lBS mustang injectors today. It sounded great on startup but I had to give it fuel to start, then it wouldn't idle but free rev'd great. As soon as the computer relearned and started to idle it started missing and running poorly... I pulled the plugs and they do not look great but it runs like crap, anyone run into this problem?????

Did you reset the PCM after the injector install?

Yea, I had the battery off through out the install. I had some typo's in the post above, the plugs are clean as a pin when I pulled them out. They don't look fuel fouled, so why is running like crap?

I'm stupid
They were not 24lbs injectors, I thought since they were from a 302 mustang they were 24lbs but there the same thing I already have. They were used Silver xj and junk at that.. Put the neon injectors back in and it's fine...

Used/non rebuilt injectors are always a toss up. Especially from a salvage yard where they may have been sitting around with old gas in them for months. Your description sounded like what happened to me when I tried a set of salvage yard injectors. Bad idea.

Were hanging in there, she won the West Virginia Day race on Saturday..
Posting a 4.116 in the 150 ft speed pit. I love the stroker and it's time for a camshaft and headwork (still stock) I don't wanna go to far at first, so I can keep what we got and not go to big and mess everything up in the middle of the season.
I've been reading alot about cams but I'm still confused at best. I'm not an engine builder I'm a jeep builder and waaaaaaayyyy out of my confort zone, so if anyone has any suggestions on a good mild camshaft that will run on stock springs and help me out with alittle more lift please educate me. I plan on milling the head alittle too, compression doesn't hurt me any since we only run about 10 miles a year. There's a certain 5.9L dakota out there that we need to beat during fair season, he's been on top way to long...LOL

Got the 63mm throttle body and 24# injectors in and they really woke the little stroker up. Missy beat everyone at the last race by a full second. I'm looking at the stage 2 head and roller cam from 505 performance. Anyone running or have any experience with this setup? I'm wanting her to move out of the 4/6 class next year into the street stock class, and I'm gonna need alittle more to run against the v-8's. There's a local engine builder that builds all the big race motors in the area that has took a interest in the little jeep and has offered to have a head built and a custom cam cut for me, just not sure if my money is better spent at 505 were they specialize in strokers. Any input would be appreciated.
