23mpg is badass!! Yours is a five speed? My automatic with 3.07 gears get 13-15 in town.

Which carb are you running?
We broke something, I think it was traction.

I still have the puke goat 5 speed:) running the small weber, 32/32 I think, not sure on the numbers but it's the small weber. It has been tuned using a wideband lm1, I use a narrow band to keep tabs on it during driving

14k update
As promised here i am with a new update, Everything still pretty much the same. it still rattles when cold, can still hear the lifters at idle (which i think is the profile of the cam). It still holds about 50 psi of oil pressure when hot at anything other than idle (about 30 psi idling) Still gets about 23 mpg on the highway, 17-19 around town. I do have to remove the water to intake in the summer time or it will rattle under a hard pull, but its no problem to reroute the water. I have been thinking of putting a programmable MSD box on to control the timing, As i have wrote timing maps for supercharged cars in the past and i do have a extra digital 7 box. But it runs so good as it is i may just keep driving it the way it is. I do use a bottle of the comp cams additive at every oil change, And i have only ran premium fuel from the first day. I have on occasion thought of using some 89 octane in the winter but haven't yet. I hope these post helps someone else to decide on their build as i have been happy with mine!

Certain cams will make more valve sound due tot he ramp rates. And at different RPMs.

Yeah, my cam makes my valvetrain super noisy until the oil is fully hot between 2700-3000 rpm, after all I went through with my first two go-arounds with this motor, it made me very nervous- but despite pulling the valve cover and running the motor, touching each rocker, checking lobe lift, preload, etc, everything is completely within spec so I live with it and just let her warm up really good before I bring the rpms over 2500. Probably good practice anyway, but otherwise it sounds like a chipmunk playing spoons on my valve cover. Once the oil is hot the valvetrain is quiet as a mouse

My pistons make more noise than my valve train before it gets warm, and I to let mine warm before any throttle. Mine is louder in the winter than summer but I know it's the pistons so all is well! My valve train sounds more like a solid lift roller than a flat tappet, but it was expected due to the cam profile!

The last time I had a very noisy valve train when cold was due to an air leak at the oil pump. THe hot, thin oil wouldn't suck as much air. Might want to look into that. The pick up to pump fitting can be suspect as well in some cases the pump hits the block. See here: http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... =34&t=2671

Forged pistons will make noise when cold, but that should only last a few minutes. I don't get on my throttle until the oil is up to 180*, which is about 15 minutes after the coolant hits temp.

Another update as promised, Although i haven't put but a thousand miles on it since the last update, I still want to keep my promise! The reason for no milage , is that a squirrel chewed all my wwiringand vacuum hoses in to. Yes the squirrel is dead! But back to the update, Everything is still as it was, Same fuel milage, same oil pressure, same piston and valve train noise. I have recently upgraded my trans to a AX15, after i got my wiring fixed, i started driving it again and the BA-10 started sounding like a pea thrasher. I already had the stuff put back to do the swap, so during CHRISTmas vacation i did the swap! Now i should be able to really see what the stroker is capable of, Now that i don't have to worry about damaging the tranny! If i can help anyone, My email is [email protected]. As i dont spend much time on my computer anymore! (smart phone now). Anyway i want to say THANKS again for the jeep stroker web site, as it really helped in my building my stroker! Good luck to all that is building, And wish all a Blessed 2014! P.S. My next endever is either fuel injection, and or a 4 BBL and intake. This is to prepare for the turbo that the motor was built for!

16k MILE UPDATE!
Well really nothing has changed, The motor has another 3k miles since my last post. I have been a little harder on it since the trans swap! Still havent turboed it though, really hope that happens this summer though. It did make its annual trip to Bowlingreen Kentucky this year. Got 25 mpg on the trip there and 21 on the way home? It does really well on the long cruises, as long as i keep it around 55 - 60. Anything over that and i start getting into the main circuit of the carb! I figure its from wind resistance more than anything else. And around town the milage has been around 16 -17, But im sure thats because im not afraid to stand on it from stop to stop anymore. (ax 15). I did let it go 4k on this oil change and it responded with using about 1/2 a quart! I am going to change the oil back to Castrol High Milage , As this oil is just part synthetic. No real reason for it other than that is what i run in all my other vehicles, which will make it easier to keep up with. Same oil and same filter on them all! Well i hope this has helped someone as much as other posts helped me decide on building my stroker! IT IS WELL WORTH IT! Now on a side note, I hope i dont get scolded! To the ones with the Puke Goat transmissions. There is a adapter from advance that lets you keep your stock skid plate, Mount. Part # is 716007. I tried to copy and paste a link but my computer is old and out dated. But anyway this mount lets you keep your orignal skid pan, Mount for the transmission when you change to a AX 15. It really make the job a lot easier. Not to mention it keeps everything that was on there stock. If i can help anyone with anything, Please let me know! The best way to contact me is thru my e-mail. [email protected]. again THANKS everybody for your help!
