ok so a few weeks ago my motor took a dump, and my believing in fixing everything better then stock im going with a stroker and so far this is something im trying to do cheap as possible
first im buying a rebuild kit with stock replacment pistons for .030 bore, using the stock 4.0 rods, crane cam and stock 4.0 push rods, stock head
ive already got the 258 crank and 24# injectors, do i need adjustable map and FPR?
this is my first stroker build and first motor build ever, ive helped with a couple motors but never built my own svice oro bare with me
please help me with any advice or things im forgetting
thank you

Conversely, you'll need a set of 4.2 rods if you want to use stock replacement pistons. Either way you'd be wise to buy a new set of ARP 112-6001 rod bolts.

I'm also building my first stroked motor a jeep. I've already got the block and 4.2 rods and crank at the machine shop getting cleaned up and bored. 030 over. I'm installing this on a 97 TJ that doesn't have a fpr so will I need an adjustable map? I've already got the 24# injectors as well.

Depends. Here's a price comparison of various piston/ring sets:EVIL95XJ wrote:thats what i was thinking but wasnt exactly sure, so my cheaper route is 4.2 rods right?
Keith Black IC944 pistons + standard moly rings: $533
Sealed Power H802CP pistons + metric moly rings: $270
Sealed Power H825CP pistons + standard moly rings: $298
Sealed Power Z677AP pistons + standard moly rings: $250
Unless you can find a decent set of 4.2 rods for much less than $230, you might as well take the 4.0 rod/IC944 piston route.

I paid $360 for the KB944 pistons and about $50 for moly rings, so shop around!Cheromaniac wrote:Depends. Here's a price comparison of various piston/ring sets:EVIL95XJ wrote:thats what i was thinking but wasnt exactly sure, so my cheaper route is 4.2 rods right?

I went with the stronger forged pistons since my original '01 4.0 failed due to a broken #2 piston skirt.

Re: First stroker - do i got this right?
I have some 4.0 rod's I'll take 20 dollars for plus what ever it cost to ship. I just pulled "em out of the engine that I'm stroking. I'm going with the 4.2 rod's I would swap for some 4.2 or just what ever. keep it in the ditch.
