turbo manifold question (quick)

my plan is to have the turbo sit in the same spot as the air box did, (very front, driver side)

My question.
Will there be any problems with exhaust flow with a manifold that has the turbo mount welded on at the front?
making it look like this, flange is on the wrong end, but you get the idea

I think it can runs correctly.
If you take a look on the build of this guy http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1031285 that has made a turbo system for his XJ, you can see the type of exhaust manifold has made. Also he has done a very great and clean work. You can take inspiration for your turbo mod!

thats exactly what i would like to do, but with the turbo welded on at the front instead of at the back.

i just had another thought, where the exhaust mounts to the block, there is that mounting bracket/flange. I figure i will just cut the old exhaust off as close as possible, grind whats left off of the bracket and reweld the stainless tubing to the bracket.

sould like a plan?

I think if there is space under hood you can put the turbocharger on the front side of manifold; It's the same of this but mirrored on vertical axis.

Thinking to the bracket... I never done a turbo 4.0 (for now) but I know a turbocharger is heavy, and when you go up with its dimension, the weight come back!
Isn't this case, but 3 years ago, when I had a truck from Iveco. I've changed its turbosystem, and the turbocharger weight was about 5 kg or so. It was very big because of displacement (13.4 L) but there was a big brackets to mount the turbine hooked up to the engine.
I personally think that if you don't make a braket or another type of support for your turbocharger, you can do some miles, some weeks or maybe months, but with hole in the streets, and with vibration in off-road, a crack in the manifolds will be sure.

i was wondering about that too. the guy that built the manifold gregorio posted had a piece cut for him, or machined it himself (i forget). but he does make a good point about the turbo bracket. youll need something no matter where you put it to mount the turbo to something solid. otherwise youll end up breaking it off the exhaust. between the weight and the vibration, it wouldnt last long mounted to only the exhaust piping.

there is a lot of space to mount and brace a turbo once the airbox is removed, its just a matter of fabrication
