Re: Superchargers?
Where are your power steering pumps? You wrangler guys have all that extra room under the hood.

Re: Superchargers?
I don't see why. If you followed the thread on Naxja there was a whole lot of tuning issues with no real help from Sprintex or Rimmer. Ogauge eventually took it upon himself to switch to an AEM FIC which rectified the issue. Its not a US supercharger so parts may be an issue in case failure or rebuild. I also think its a bit to small, even for a 4.0L.CobraMarty wrote:Say all you want about Rimmer but I think that this is the best one out there to date.
That powerdyne unit looks nice as I could keep the AC, but I like the rotor version better. TJ guys are lucky with all the room they have under the hood.

Re: Superchargers?
Rimmer's kit now comes with a AEM F/IC all programmed instead of the electronics it had last year. Problem solved. The S/C is able to put out 6 pounds boost at 5000rpm so where is it too small? It is sized just fine for us at 275HP/300TQ.

Re: Superchargers?
OK, all this looks great, but what are you guys doing for engine management? Somehow i don't think the jeep odb1/odb2 will work too good with boost.

Re: Superchargers?
The guy with the Sprintex unit is using an AEM FIC and larger injectors. He went with the 8 cylinder FIC just so he could have the option of changing his speedo reading.

Re: Superchargers?
You use the AEM F/IC-6 and you have a few ways to so it.
1-The way Boostec does it, is to use the stock injectors driven by the stock ECU and add a 7th injector and run it with the AEM.
2-The way 0-gauge-steamer, is to run 6 bigger injectors and control them with the AEM intercepting the signal and modifying it.
3-A combo of the 2, especially if stroker, run larger 6 injectors + a 7th injector all controlled with the AEM. The 7 fires with injector #1.
In all three ways the AEM can retard the timing as well.

i use option 2 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
before the fic i had an FMU that worked pretty good, but with the fic its an all different ball game
way better

Re: Superchargers?
I looked up the AEM stuff, looks like a pretty cost effective way to handle the engine management.
Here is a link for anybody whi wants to check it out
http://www.aemelectronics.com/engine-ma ... r-f-ic-12/
What kind of boost are you guys running and what kind of hp? I would guess around 400hp or more.
Anybody build an E85 motor yet?

Re: Superchargers?
The Boostec/Sprintex supercharger kit puts out 6-7 pounds boost and 275HP/300TQ.
Now a built engine, stroker, bigger supercharger, more boost, who knows, 400+HP is possible.

That is what i would expect, The 275 hp/ 300tq seems not worth the effort. A 4.7 ( without a supercharger) should be able to get close to those numbers for less of a price. The 4.2 Inline in the trailblazer is 291 hp, and i think 275 ft/lbs without a blower. Some of the new generation V6 motors as well are 300 hp, the Ford V6 I think is 305 and Chrysler has various versions of the Pentastar from 285-305HP. If you are just looking for 300P I think a 4.7 or one of the new generation 6 cylinder motors make more sense. An aluminum 6 would lose some weight off the front end and probably get better gas mileage.
This is all based on spending $3-$4K or more on the supercharger and associated equipment. If I am way high on my numbers let me know.

Re: Superchargers?
i'm boosting 8-9 psi on top of a 260 horsepower NA stroker. i don't have a dyno near by to check it,and the nearest drag strip is a country away
but i'm guessing i'm in the 400 range.
