Stroker parts list

I've got a 93 4.0 motor complete with the computer injectors and everything for it. I also have a 81 amc 258 complete that I am driving now. I'm sure there out there but I was wondering if you guys could come up with a parts list that I could go by to build a stroker. ( poor mans) I would like to use everything j can off the two motors and stay under 1500 to 2000 in parts to have it done and running.Thanks look forward to talking

Take some time to read through a few different project threads. I know yours will wind up being slightly different because you are putting this back in your CJ and your fuel delivery will be slightly different, but at the end of the day the engine itself is what you are concerned with building right now, fuel delivery and ignition can be worked out later.

so i have decided to go with the poor mans stroker lol.Got the parts list off the forum from you guys thanks.just wanting to know if i get that machine work done and order those parts that i dont have from the two motor will that do most of the stroker far as the motor. Like i said im new and wanting to do this by myself and right the first time.Sure i will figure it out with your help.

Of course you´ll need all the regular rebuild parts like seals, gaskets, bearings, rings, probably a new oil pump (or rebuild your existing one), new timing set, etc. It adds up, but the shop will be able to order and install everything I listed - my first go-around I had the shop assemble the rotating assembly and valvetrain, wasn´t too bad- I just had to replace the seals/gaskets, install the covers & balancer, etc.

My second build I had the shop just do everything and give me the engine ready to drop in, and it added next to nothing to the cost to have them do that.

Thanks for the parts list. On the poormans stroker it said a bore of .020 bore piston. Just wondering if there was a certain piston to use or not. The ones on the list seem to be stock size i beleive if reading it right from summit racing. Dont want to order the wrong ones.Thanks again

You can build a poor man's stroker with any piston oversize you want. It doesn't have to be +0.020"; that's just what I used in mine. The link I posted is for the +0.030" piston (3.905" bore) and that'll do fine.

Ok that's what I'm going to do I hope I like it at the end. They sound pretty impressive.I was also wanting to know if thAt will bolt into my th400 and what needs to be done with the motor mounts being it's going into a cj

I followed Dino's recipe for the "Modified Poor Man's" STROKER to the letter inclusive the +0.020" KB 944's. My only deviation from advice was I did not port and polish the head.

The performance is OUTSTANDING. A truly noticeable increase in torque in the 1500-3000 RPM range, which is the range I typically use. I am still putting miles on the engine so I really have not exceeded the 3000 RPM mark to know the performance at higher RPMs.

Yes Sir, I am. I am very grateful for all the effort on this site and your websites and great advice shared here. I would have rebuilt a 4.0L back to stock performance without it.

I'm going with modified poor mans not much different than the poormans and got parts to go either way. So my question is there any different pistons to gi with or just the KB 944 there 486 for a set of six. If that's it il get them I'm sure there with it thanks

Not unless you want to get custom pistons. Otherwise your choices are either:

1. Your existing 4.0 rods + IC944 forged pistons OR
2. A set of 4.2 rods + el cheapo 4.0 pistons

ok things go back and forth on this forum so its hard im bying the kb 944 piston and its done
