i am new at this but i have a 93 4.0 and a 81 258 just wondering what need to do to build a stroker with what i got and not a lot of money invested and wondering if you still can do it with a card or does it have to injected prob a stupid question im just trying to learn it will be going in a 79 cj7 so i was trying to stay away from the computer stuff if i could

Go with a modified version of the "low buck" recipie. Use your 4.2 crank and rods and cast 4.0 pistons (stock or aftermarket),
An engine doesn't care how it gets it's air and fuel as long as it gets enough of each to run properly. I would think it's doable, but it will take a little research.
I know there are carbureted intakes out there for the 4.2, but I'm not sure what's availible for the 4.0. Maybe someone else here will have an answer for that one.
The other thing you'll need to look into is if the 4.0 distributor will work for non-EFI use. I'm not sure if they will interchange, so that's another one for the pro's to answer.
