Hesco head
I have an opportunity to buy a hesco aluminum head and a set of roller rockers for a sweet deal. I'm going to have a machine shop check them out to ensure they are in working order if the deal comes through. I have seached here as well as the web and I am looking for some feedback as to if I should jump on the deal or if hesco's head are not worth the trouble. I'm gathering parts for my stoker build and I'm looking to build a soild reliable stroker that makes good power but still uses renix computer. I never intended to use this head but the price seems too good to pass up. All things aside, I really want to know if the hesco's head will outperform an iron head with a good port and polish. Any and all opinion are welcome. Thanks.

Re: Hesco head
The Hesco aluminium head will comfortably outperform a stock 4.0 head (renix or HO) on a stroker but a new one costs $1995 and Hesco's roller rockers cost a further $564. If the price of the head you're looking at is much less than that, it might be worth considering.

Re: Hesco head
I talked to the machine shop that presure test the head a while ago he said it was good then but he had to resurface the head becuse the guy over heated the head in a mud run. im able to get the head and roller rockers for faction of new but dont know how much abuce the head can take and im pretty sure its been run hard.

How far is it from flat? I'd be concerned if the ends are planed to flat, that you would have inconsistent chamber sizes from end to middle, someone else would have to say what's acceptable...for a mild low compression engine, you can get away with more.
