Now I can be like all those other awesome people with more than one Jeep in their sig, but now I have to say one of them is sold:(

i found this and its what led me to this site, which is awesome by the way, i am hopeing to get some feedback from someone who has performed this massive project. Im just womdering if its worth the extra cash verses a standard 4.7 and how well it would be on the highway with such high compression. Im jeep through and through so the v8 swap is out of the question, but i would like to have 300+ hp. Thx for your response

A 5.0 stroker is NOT for the faint of heart or light of wallet so I suggest you take the 4.6/4.7 stroker route.

What headgasket did you use for the 5.0? if it has a bore of 4.00 then you need a gasket with a bigger bore than 4.0... All standard stock gaskets I researched had a bore of 4.0 only. I need a gasket with a bigger bore due to an ooops but could not find one other than an expensive copper racing gasket ..thanks

The Victor-Renz gasket supports a 4" bore< i think it is about .010 or .020 bigger than 4". It is available at Carquest or online at Rock Auto. 5.0 stroker is big bucks. You need custom Rods, maybe pistons (you may find Chevy or Frod pistons that may work). You need to offset grind the crank. I would not exceed 5,400 rpm for street use. Depending on your head work, you may be able to get around 300hp.

Build a 4.7 and put a turbo on it. 350-400hp easy. Hesco has some great turbo pistons. If you really want to go crazy, build an E85 turbo motor. Anybody can drop in a SBC, a turbo motor is just cool.

mahle 599831wr-std pistons(chevy dished) will work w/ 258 rods. Dirt cheap too!

For a 5.0 you need to increase the stroke to 4" so the 258 rods will not work. the victor gasket works fine on a 4" bore, the Bonneville truck is a 4" bore x 4" stroke and that is what i use.

For the amount that it would cost you to build a NA 5.0 stroker you could build a modified 4.6 "poor man's", add a supercharger or turbo, and have more power with better reliability.

sorry. thinking of old race engine(now in my daily driver comanche) stroke is only 3.904" with off-set grind. Still a good affordable combo( 8x pistons 140 bucks), but not a 5.0l . New race engine 4.06" stroke crank(505 performance)with a 4" bore fits the bill for a 5.0l though.
