Alright I see the specs vary quiet a bit..I'm doing a spruced up oem rebuild atm and wondering which cam would best suit my needs...
Basically its a .60 over stock block, Ported Renix head, stock valve train, 60mm throttle body, 703 injectors. Will be using a SafcII and wideband to tune it! Its mated to a ax15 running 31's & 3.55's! Basically I'm looking for the best cam that suits my needs but still use the stock valve train!
I know people run the Comp 232/231 in their rig previously withs tock springs...but I run my jeep up to 5300 often and its just to damn risky with that much cam!
I know cam selection is based on how the rig is used...Well my jeep is daily driver and I'm planing to keep it on 87oct but not the biggest concern.
I run it hard, running from stop light to stop light, It sees mild wheeling..nothing to extreme! It goes to redline or close to it when I drive it hard!
Can you guys help me decide on a cam that will best suit my needs?
theres the 87-95 cam, the late model cam, comp 115 or comp 200, crower 44242 or 44243, Isky 1331-M, Mopar P4529228, or 505 performance
263/265-14H
I basically want a good cam for a daily driver but also a hot rod cam! I'd like the widest power band possible, but favoring mid-top end power! I can work around compression ratio by dishing the pistons..so this is basically just which cam is best for me?
Edit: I think I've narrowed it down to 3 cams...the Comp 200, the Clifford 264 & the Crane 750501....from the little I know..it seems the crane will give me the same as the comp..but over a broaded rpm range...
So any advice on the Crane vs the Clifford? On stock springs & everything!
Early vs late model cam? possibly aftermarket

The stock valve springs are rated to 0.430" of valve lift so choose a cam from my spreadsheet that has a lift not higher than that, but with enough duration to give you good top end power.

I have the Crane cam in my 4.7 stroker and had the same criteria. It really performs great and i'm really happy with my choice.casual wrote:I basically want a good cam for a daily driver but also a hot rod cam! I'd like the widest power band possible, but favoring mid-top end power!
On the other hand, I never compared in real with the various mentioned cams above...

Dino what would you perfer...the Crane 75050, 96+ cam or they comp 201 or the Crower 44243? These all seem to stack up decently...Really interested in the Comp/Crower! Any other recomendations?
I've been eye balling that spread sheet lol thats how I got those cams I listed previously.

Dino what would your advice be? I'm running a spruced up stocker...60 over bottom end, ported head, 60mm throttle body..trying to find the best cam to suit my needs!
Currently using the calculator I've come up with this...
Renix cam (75 ICVA): 9.21 SCR & 6.71 DCR
Comp 201 (57 ICVA): 9.21 SCR & 7.75 DCR
Crawer 44243 (56 ICVA): 9.21 SCR & 7.80 DCR
Erson E720111 (63 ICVA): 9.21 SCR & 7.43 DCR
Mopar P4529228 (48 ICVA): 9.21 SCR & 8.17 DCR
505 performance 263/265-14H (65.5 ICVA): 9.21 SCR & 7.29 DCR
Out of all these I'm not sure which best suits my needs..but they all look pretty similar in lift & duration. I'd like a cam that gives a little more from 2000-5000 rpm or close to it, but I want to use the factory valvetrain! I'd also like to keep this thing on 87oct if possible but this isn't the biggest concern. I don't want to do a stroker right now, just a simple fun fast 4.0..I'm so confused on this cam selection crap

This motor will stay the way it is, so I'm just looking for the most power without doing a stroker.

The compcams 68-200-4 should do it for you.
