F.N.G. questions
My name is Eric and i am the FNG to this site and to strokers. I just recently finished mine and i have about 800 miles on it in my 97 TJ. I dont think i'm getting neer the power as i should plus it kind of bogs out when you step on the gas from idle. here is what i have in it: 4.2L crank and rods, .030 4.0L pistons, comp "extreme 4x4" cam, poweraid throttle body spacer, AFE stage 2 intake, header back exhaust with flow master 50 series muffler (2.5 inch), stock injectors and fuel system. Thats about all i can think of off the top of my head. Is there something i'm missing? should i get some sort of piggyback air/fuel programmer and a wide band o2?

Re: F.N.G. questions
Did you also install larger (increased PSI /Flow) Injectors?

Re: F.N.G. questions
well i thought i had. i bought some referbished 5.0 mustang injectors (off ebay) but i think they were only 19# injectors. they were the orange ones. I'm not sure what size stock 97 4.0L injectors are but the have to be bigger then that. i ran the mustang injectors for a while but it didnt seem to help any so i put the stock ones back in and it runs a little better. what injectors do you recomend?

Re: F.N.G. questions
I am a noob too so, what I am reading is 24# injectors are required to prevent running too lean. Running lean will result in higher than normal operating temperatures and pinging at higher RPM's.
I believe this is similar to what you have built.
4.6L Low-buck, low CR "rockcrawler"
~ Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank
~ Jeep 4.2L 5.875" rods
~ Keith-Black Silvolite UEM-2229 +0.030" bore pistons
~ Increase piston dish volume to 30cc
~ 8.8:1 CR
~ Crane #750501 192/204 degree camshaft
~ Ported HO 1.91"/1.50" cylinder head
~ Mill block deck 0.035"
~ Mopar Performance 0.043" head gasket
~ 0.058" quench height
~ 2.25" exhaust
~ Ford 24lb/hr injectors with stock 39psi FPR for '87-'95 engines, stock injectors with stock 49psi FPR for '96 and later engines
~ 231hp @ 4400rpm, 327lbft @ 2000rpm

Re: F.N.G. questions
X2 on the 19#ers not cutting it. Get some gen 3 all-blue, one-piece plastic ford 24# injectors with the ev1 connector and 4 pintles like:

Re: F.N.G. questions
Should also consider a wideband 02 sensor to see what the engine is doing with AFR's.
