determining how much i got decked
Its been about 5 yrs now since i had my machine work done. I simply dont recall how much i got it decked , if at all. Can anyone tell me how to determine my deck height?

I would guess that you would need to remove the head and put cyclinder to top dead to measure it.

not so hard then since my jeeps head isnt on yet.
So, just put it at tdc and use a gauge and measure how low the piston sits below the top of the block

If you are trying to figure out the pushrod length, just install everything and buy an adjustable push rod checker like this one.
Make sure to get the right range length.They come in different sizes. I can check mine if you want.

If this is not what you are trying to figure, please disreguard.
I don't believe that measuring from of the top of the piston to the deck will give you what you want. Could be wrong though!

I'm looking to see how much if any and what the measurement is now with regards to whether or not my machine shop ever took any material off of the deck of my block. The block is already built . How do i find if they lessened material with the short block already built? And thanks for those push rod measurement and theory links..
