Which pushrods
My budget stroker is a 7120 head, stock valvetrain, stock 96 cherokee cam, 258 crank. What pushrods and lifters would you recommend? The Mopar performance site http://jeepconnection.com/parts/index.html shows two p/n for a 4.0 .. P4529220AB and P4529675 and this is confusing me. I also bought some crane lifters p/n 99278-12 awhile ago with the intention of getting a beefier cam but have decided to stick with stock so I dont have to buy new springs and hassle with all the possibilities of cam/lifter failures that is plaguing the stroker community. Will these 99278-12 lifters work with a stock cam, stock pushrods or do I need to simply buy some stock lifters?

Those lifters will work fine.

Yup, and stock pushrods should also be fine.

which of the two pushrod p/n's is stock? they both say 4.0 but both have different p/n's

I think you are confusing yourself.
The P4529220AB are the lifters, @ $10.75 ea., and they fit both V8 and 4.0 L6.
The P4529675 are the stock HD pushrods for the 4.0 L6, @ $10.75 for the set.
Take another look at the page. Hope that helps.

Are you decking your block?
If so you will need a shorter push rod I believe. Some just put spacers under the rocker to maintain
the correct geometry.

Pushrods don't have SQUAT! to do with rocker arm geometry!, shorter pushrods are only needed to maintain lifter preload, rocker pivot and valve stem height are the two variables that effect the geometry.jbxx wrote:Are you decking your block?

Dont wanna use spacers? 2.5l push rods are .100" shorter and sometimes will provide proper lifter preload after" heavy" machining. eg .035" off block , .110" off head. Otherwise, stock is good. And affordable!

x2 Spacers actually may change the valve geometry to something other than ideal, depending on what head work you had some and how much higher the valve is in the head. They may work for setting preload, but can mess of the valve stem to rocker contact. On our 4.0Ls the pushrods do nothing other than set the correct lifter preload, unlike other engines that have an adjusting nut at the rocker arm pivot point.

I had both 88 and 95 pushrods to choose from, I'm pretty sure I used the ones that matched the 95 7120 head.
They were too tall, and I added spacers. Which in my case improved the geometry of the contact point between the HS rockers
and the face of the top of the valve. I also had removed at least .030" from the block and some from the head.
