Engine stalls in gear

Post by poolguy74 »

Ok guys need some help. My 90 yj "4.2" was stroked before I got it, so no specs. Ever since I've had it now thru 2 transmissions dies when I put it in gear. I'm thinking I need a stall converter??
Planning on a 1900 - 2100. Any advise on this would be helpful. Motor runs perfect in park. Can force it to take off and runs perfect over 1000rpms but if it drops below that it dies.
Thx in advance

Your converter has nothing to do with it unless its just plain bad. Putting in a higher stall converter will not fix the problem if current converter is good. Perhaps the torque converted lock is engage. Have you done any trouble shooting? It would also help to know what transmission it has.
