Vacuum lines.
well Im very close to having the motor run, and Im just wondering what you guys do with all the vacuum lines. my normal answer is to just delete everything other than the brake booster. I have lines for the evap canister, and for the little ball that is in the front bumper. do I need either, or can I just pull them all out and call it a day.

Re: Vacuum lines.
If you don't like your ac, heat and cruise to work correctly, the engine light to be on constantly and venting fumes and gas vapors then you should leave the lines out. The system isn't complex and there aren't many vacuum lines.

I agree, they really did a good job of eliminating the "unnecessary crap" on the late jeeps!, it's not like the '80s Kalifornia emition Fords! I'd hook it all back up.

Re: Vacuum lines.
I dont have AC, cruise, or care about fumes. what pertains to heat, engine lights? I mainly just want to get rid of the evap canister, and the weird ball in the front bumper. I think those are the only vac lines I have left. what are the affects of deleting them?SilverXJ wrote:If you don't like your ac, heat and cruise to work correctly, the engine light to be on constantly and venting fumes and gas vapors then you should leave the lines out. Re: Vacuum lines.
You were already told the effects..
The ball is for reserve vacuum when the motor is in a low vacuum condition. This keeps for example the HVAC controls pushing whatever way you have the selector set. If this isnt in place, then the vents will default and only work on defrost vents.
Also, i know i dont want fuel vapors floating around in the cab and under the hood

Re: Vacuum lines.
As an extension to relocating, nothing says it has to be that same ball shaped reservoir. On my Grand Cherokee, it has a box shaped chamber under the battery shelf. That still might not work for you, but the idea here is substitute something of simular volume that might fit better under your hood.
Good luck with it!

Re: Vacuum lines.
is there anything inside the ball? the only problem with deleting it is the hvac switching to defrost under WOT?
if thats it, I may yank it all. the only time I will have the heat on, 90% of the time will be on defrost anyway.

Re: Vacuum lines.
It will effect everything that runs off vacuum. Including a vacuum disconnect D30 as an example.

Re: Vacuum lines.
I found my line to the ball broken and just capped it off and the HVAC works as it should. I'll get the line from the JY. There's a nice white 2dr build on Grassroots Motorsports page that has just the brake booster and map hooked to vacuum IIRC(you'd love his engine bay). I've never followed hydro-boost builds, but you might be able to do something about the booster being in the way of your dual tb manifold(just read your 27pgs).

Re: Vacuum lines.
yea I love a nice clean engine bay. id like to pull the ECM, FIC, and fuse block all inside the cab.
I heard the you could get a CEL from the solenoid thats on the vac lines by the evap canister.
