Not looking for a stroker or a bada*s motor or anything. Mainly looking for a oem rebuild thats geared toward efficiency. And I guess advice on what to do. I'd like to keep it cheap & running on 87oct. Its for our daily driver. I've read Dino's posts some many times & believes he's got the efficiency thing handled.
So I was thinking about porting the head, possibly doing bigger valves but most likely not. Sticking with the renix cam, upgrading the injectors to a 3 or 4 hole design..Probably Ford 19lbs, if it runs lean I'll throw in 21lbs. Umm I'm not sure if you can use the 99+ style intake manfiold on the renix head? Possibly different bolt pattern, & ports not matching up?
I don't know I'm looking for some advice here. Also anyone who ports & gasket matches head can you please give me a shout? I'd be interested in getting my head ported.
Advice just a few simple questions regarding a Renix.

Also I'm not exactly sure whats required to do this. I know I can run a HO head, which would be better in the end. Ported HO > Ported Renix.
But whats required to run a HO head, 99 intake manfiold & whatever header is needed? I'm looking for efficiency here mainly. Powers just a added perk.
Looking into rebuild as my head has some decently loud valvetrains that progessively getting worse.

Dont go with bigger valves. Not a good idea on even a Stroked I6.
Any 91+ head is going to be more effecient and flow better than the renix head. You will need the following items to do the swap to a newer head depending on the year of the head:
Head
Intake and Exhaust Manifolds
Throttle Body
TPS Adapter
Fuel Rail and fuel lines (or cut and modify RENIX.... easier to just swap hard lines IMO)
Throttle Cable
TV (aka Detent) cable (Automatic Transmission.. You can use the RENIX one, but its a tight fit)
If you go 99+ then you will also need the following items:
Power Steering Pump
Power Steering Pump bracket with Idler
Measure Belt length and purchase new belt.
You will use all your RENIX sensors.
If your not comfortable doing your own port and polish then you have a couple options.
Pay someone to do it (BIG $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)
Toss the idea
Bargain with a ported and / or ported and polished ebay head.
FYI i bought a ebay head and it seems to be working great.. however they screwed up on the valve job (maybe did the port and polish afterwards?) so i had to take it to the local machine shop and get another valve job.

If it feels right, then STROKE it!

There's a simple and inexpensive way to do this. Take an HO head from 91 to 96. Lay your Renix intake/exhaust gasket over it and scribe the gasket sizes on to the head. Port match the head to match the gasket. Get a 60mm bored throttle body from www.strokedjeep.com for $90 exchange. You won't have to adapt any TPS stuff that way and your TB will be 2mm larger than the HO version. I've done 2 of them this way and I'm working on my third one right now. Use the Renix gasket to ensure good sealing.
