I think I'm going to return the comp cam's cam kit since I have not installed it and order just the parts I need. Since I'm re-ordering things individually, is there a better cam and timing set kit than the comp cams 68-231-4?

That's a good cam so what you might consider better depends on where in the rpm range you want the most torque.

When I ordered the cam, I ordered the kit with cam, springs, retainers, lifters, and timing set, (but no seats?)for a 4.0 from summit. The kit even states it is used for a 4.0. Help me understand why would some of these parts then only work for a 4.2? Why would this kit and springs not work in the 4.0? If the springs won't work in the 4.0 head I am wondering what is the benefit of spending the extra money to buy the kit with everything needed. Can I pre-load to counter the stiffness issue or is it best to use the mopar performance springs?

This has been a bit of a subject change, but I need all the help I can get :D

I used the comp cams 'kit' and lost an engine for it on my race jeep. The springs are way too stiff. I broke a valve that dropped into and through the piston then bent a rod. I have switched to the mopar performance springs with great results.
