That's cool, I'll reuse the stock cam and lifters for now after reading all the heart break about bad cam bearings and multiple engine pulls

Does the MAP adjuster apply to my injection system or will I need to get blue top 24# Ford injectors (my Ford friend tells me to simply go a salvage yard and ask for a fuel rail for a Ford 460. It will come with 8 injectors and fuel rail for $80.

You'll definitely need the 24lb injectors and it wouldn't be a bad idea to add a MAP adjuster as well to fine tune them.

All parts picked up from the machine shop. Ordered the 24lb Ford injectors (27@49psi) from http://fuelinjectorconnection.com/shop/ ... ductId=202. Good to deal with and he said they sell 30-40 sets per month for 4.0L strokers so they are familar with the set up.

Should have another running stroker this weekend.

Pushrod length vs. shimming vs. lifter pre-load:

Stock HO cam and lifters, block decked .022", .051" head gasket and head resurfaced and valves ground (exhaust replaced, valve heights are with factory specs).

I measure .058" between the pedastal and the bottom of the rocker at zero lash (I really wish I would have checked this measurement from the factory to see how far off it is).

Would you just buy .030" shorter pushrods and call it close enough or are .030" shims under the rockers doable http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FMS-M-6529-A302/?

Ordered the Crane ones today. Probably going to wait to drop the engine in until after the injectors and shim arrive.

It runs! I must say that I can set a distributor properly on a SBC with my eyes closed but this one had me two teeth retarded to start.

Initial feeling is much more low and mid range torque but side stepping the clutch at idle does seem to have lost some momentum from the 4.0L. Ended up with .065" shims under each rocker with the stock HO cam and lifters, block decked .022" and the head resurfaced.

First few days driving the stroker:
First night, ran like a beast (even not broken in). Broke the engine in the mototune way.

Took it on the first "long" drive Sunday and when I got off the expressway, I was greeted by a hiccup and check engine light. Now I will say the temp ran a little higher on the highway than around town and I attribute that to the fresh engine. Oil pressure and sound are all good.

We go ahead and drive back and pick up the parts for a tune up as up to this point, everything was still original to the 4.0L. Let's just say it had been some time since I last did a tune up.

Interestingly, the worst plug wire/cap interface was on the cylinder that blew the head gasket and broke the piston.

I had to have the head machined for those springs on my 7120 Head, not for diameter but to achieve the speced spring pressures.
I want to do all I can to forestall/ eliminate damage to the cam.
