Harmonic Balancer Position

Post by jbxx »

How far does the Harmonic balancer go back onto the snout of the crankshaft?
There is, for what I can't think of a better name, a sight tube on the timing chain cover.
If I remember correctly this was centered on the rear of the pulley on the damper.
Does this sound about right?
Tnx.

It goes all the way to the front face of the bearing journal, the bolt holds it all in place, do you have a long snout crank that needs a spacer or machined down?

If you are running the Scat crank, then you put the balancer washer and bolt on and when you tighten the bolt it will line the balancer up where it needs to be. No spacer required.
