What parts are needed to deck a block and other ?

Post by dzrtrataz »

Looking for some input, will be start a stroker build here soon. Have a 98 4.0l that I will be using, going into a 87 YJ. Hopefully will be able to use the crank out the motor in the jeep now, will find that out when I tear it down. When I tear down the 4.0l and take it to the machine shop. What do they need to deck the motor to zero? Can it be done with the old crank and piston or will they need the 4.2 crank and new pistons to do it? I will be using the rods from the 4.0 and getting KB944, looking to only go .030 over and using as much of the stock parts as possible. If the cam is good I will be using it and stock rockers, trying to keep this reliable as possible and hopefully the least amount of headaches. I will be up grading the water pump, oil pump and what ever else needs to be done.

To properly deck the block you need to bring them the block, crank, rods, and pistons that you are going to use.
