I just bought new ATK 4.7 Stoker for my Jeep Cherokee; I don’t even have 2200 miles on it!
It was running great. Well I’m heading to work and it started to miss fire. So call my mechanic he lets me know that I have exhaust fumes in my coolant I have either a blown head gasket or the head is crack. (So I call ATK well of course they tell me they have never had this happen before, after they tell me they have been in business since 1938 I needed to send gasket into them so they could inspect and if was era from ATK they would pay me back $350.00 parts are$ 150 plus labor At least 5 hours labor my total will $470 plus rental car TOTAL $650 after I just paid them $4190 for this motor not even 6 weeks Ago plus $1200 to have installed). If I was out beating on it I would have expected something like this to happen not the case what so ever I had been baby this motor thinking this would much more cost effective than buying a newer jeep (WRONG)

Hopefully your mechanic can properly diagnose the issue(bad head gasket, warped head). Did it overheat? Definitely keep ATK involved and send them receipts for the labor performed. If they are at fault, they should pay for parts and labor, but doubt them picking up rental car fees.

If I spent over $5000 on my stroker it would probably have wings.... I mean what kind of insane forged super stroker does $5000 make?

I know this is an old post, but I had to step in here. We often get bad a rep do to negligence/installer error and this I feel was one of them. Andy, first off we do have a warranty procedure that needs to be followed. We can't deviate from this, its policy. We did offer to fix/repair the engine IF it was our fault, but the head was never sent in for inspection. The guy who installed your engine COULD NOT SCREW IN THE SPARK PLUG (LITERALLY) amongst other problems. YOU were even very leery of having him do the work and had to go down there several times to "assist" him. What are we to think of this....? You purchased another head and put it on the engine which automatically voids our warranty, again policy. We were more than willing to help, but it has to be done by the book. We are one of the few companies that stands by our work...and helps the customers out as much as we can. I hate to see bashing like this as it happens so much on the internet and can hurt a company's reputation.
