Hey everyone,
I have been reading posts on this site for the last couple weeks and have decided to join as I am getting closer to rebuilding my XJ 4.0.
I am rebuilding my first engine and was originally going to do a full stock rebuild to keep the costs down but now I am interested in adding a bit more horsepower.
this is plan so far.
the engine I am rebuilding had a cracked head so I found a guy selling a cylinder head from a 93XJ casting number 7120. it has already been machined. it was pressure tested, magna fluxed, DECK 6-ALUM W/CUTTER,6-CYL CAST V-GRIND.
and the engine block I have is also from a 93 4.0.
I will bring the block into a machine shop as soon I have torn it down. I plan on getting whatever it needs done to it.
then I want to go with a 4.2L crankshaft and connecting rods and get new stock pistons
the guy selling the head has a FEL-Pro headgasket set i was planning on
and I was planning on going with Ford 24lb/hr injectors, k&n air filter.
I will probably upgrade the radiator and electric fan
what do you guys think? how will this work? any feedback or suggestions will be much appreciated
Thanks
James

Sounds like you're off to a good start. What other parts are you planning to put inside your stroker?

I've been wrapped up in dealing with some issues with my hemi lately, so pardon me if i'm just not seeing it but what does that mean?? deck the head... .060 maybeblazinjames wrote: DECK 6-ALUM W/CUTTER,6-CYL CAST V-GRIND.

You might have trouble finding a crane cam, when they started up again they were focusing on bikes and stuff.

i honestly dont know what it means. just what is says on the recipt i think it means it has been decked (the block mating surface has been machined) and the valve seats have been ground. As for 6-alum w/cutter, I really am not sure
