crankshaft thrust bearing for scat crank

Post by rammit11 »

hi, just talked to my engine builder and find out that the 4.0 thrust bearings are not working on the scat crank. Has anyone else run into this ? would the 4.2 thrust bearing work in a 4.0 block? :?

The main bearing MUST match the BLOCK, the crank shaft is irrelevant, how is it "not working"??

Make sure he is putting it in the correct spot. Not at the rear, but on the #3

Exactly. Any mechanic who's not familiar with the Jeep inline six might mistakenly install the thrust bearing shell on the no. 7 (rear) main bearing instead of no.3.

thanks guys , cheromaniasc and silver, you both are correct as to what happened. Talked to my guy today and he realized the problem and moved the thrust to the right place so now everything is right in spec.
