I'd like some input about a fuel pump issue!
I am having a problem with fueling my 4.9 stroker. I just installed the aftermarket 4.0 head with the Chev valves installed. I seem to be running my fuel rail dry at 4000RPM. I have the injectors that were supplied with the engine, I believe they are 28lbs. The engine runs like a beast up to 4000 and then runs out of fuel. Do you guys know of a bigger fuel pump i can use.
The head did show me more power, and works well with the 4.9, just need more juice

have you checked to see what your fuel pressure is at when your in the 4000 rpm range? what are you using for fuel control? do you have a wide band o2 sensor? what does it say?

I do not have a wide band kit, I took off the fuel pressure regulator. All new filters. New in tank pump (stock) I was wanting to get as much fuel as possible. I am not an expert on this so i am struggling. I love my stroker, but need more juice to get over the hump. Do they make a high volume fuel pump? I was thinking about an exterior pump.
I think it is the bigger valves, I did not have any problem with the head that came with the 4.9, The manufacture came up with a new head design and of course I had to have one.
Who offers a wide band o2 sensor? I will get one installed. I have 27lb injectors, maybe some bigger injectors.

ok to start with put your fuel pressure regulator back on or you run the risk of washing your cylinders. if you don't have any way of controlling your fuel delivery then you have some nasty holes in your fuel tables. you need to look into either a stand alone fuel management system or a piggy back system. depending on where you live you might have to go with a piggy back system but if you can since you have such a big motor you might wanna do a stand alone system. you can get a wide band o2 sensor from dozens of company's just do a search.
who built your stroker? they would prolly be able to suggest something

You need to see what its really doing i.e. wideband. You will also need to throw a pressure gauge on and see what it does at 4k. Just because it bogs down at 4k doesn't mean there is a fuel issue. You could be doing the opposite and over fueling. I serious doubt your 4.9 is running the fuel rail dry.. not is that big valve helping anything, but thats another issue.
28lb injectors may also be too big.

Re: I'd like some input about a fuel pump issue!
I replaced the fuel pump again last night. I also re installed the regulator. I just got back from a little run, and had no loss of power at 4K. It ran very strong. Maybe I just had a bad pump. I thank you for your advice and hopefully my life is better, and my Jeep is back on the trail.
Maybe it was just dump chick luck.
What do you think about the big valve head? I think I feel more power, but maybe it is my imagination. The old original head ran great, just wanted more. I did notice more fuel consumption, but even with the old head the monster did like to drink the fuel.
I just can't seem to leave things alone.

i'd still suggest getting a wide band o2 sensor on there to see what it's doing. it may not need to be using all the fuel it is

I run a Auto Meter 4378 Ultra-Lite Wide Band Air Fuel Ratio Kit. Probably not the cheapest, but it matches my other guages and it will allow data logging, not that I log anything. Its just nice to know whats going on with the fuel system.

If you want to insure adaquate fuel supply, an e8248 inline pump would better suit your needs(60-70 gph) Its an inliner and will give you years of reliable service.
