Well here we go, 20 years since the last build

Post by gdlocal10 »

This is a great site for Jeepsters, I havent built an engine in 20 years, but Im going to build a stroker for my 97 Grand Cherokee, any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated, I use to do a lot of 4 wheeling, and modified a few toys, I see you guys here are well educated in the stroker field , and I am starting to put some numbers together on this one. Got the engine out tonight ,tomorrow Ill break it down and see how she looks inside. Plans are custom paint and doll it up a little but first the important things, DRIVETRAIN. Rebuilt the transmission and transfer case last year, now looking for strength and dependability. Glad I found this site looks like plenty of knowledge here.

This will be cake the 2nd time around and the i-6 is a fun and relatively easy build(plenty of space to work with and pretty straight forward). You'll love the power you'll get out of it. Do your research here, hesco forums, Dino's site, yahoo stroker group, maybe pirate4x4, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Thanks ,I got the engine apart, and #2 piston had a hole in it. All the bearings were in good shape, the block had been hot, will be taking it to the machine shop when the machinist gets over the flu, cylinder walls seem to be in good shape, not sure about the head, I was considering a new cast head off of ebay, they are suppose to be stronger than factory , and they have the chevy valves in them I think they are 425.00 . Will be ordering parts soon, I looked at the thread on the 99 up intake, and I wondered if that is the best carburation. Also still researching headers. Looking forward to the reassembly, I guess for now just read up and wait.
