My first 4.7 broke my old Peaugo trans with in 32 miles of driving. Yes I was having fun with the new power plant . A lot of fun. Leaf springs were bowing badly .........wheel hop ...... busted 2nd gear...etc. I then put in the ax-15 and ladders . Now it stays flat and I no longer worry about wheel hop but I've added my new turbo stroker and I'm worried about the trans. I've already replaced the rear end with a 9" and the drive shaft with a custom one, u joints r good oones too.
How much can the ax-15 hold.
ax-15 , good or bad ?

They claim to hold up to mild V8's, so?, I've got 150,000+ on the one in my '97 TJ with all kinds of showing the ricers that jeep aren't to be taken for granted! and lots of off roading too, my only issue is i it shifts kinda hard now with the cold weather and the REDLINE MT90 oil, I may switch it over to MTL?

Re: ax-15 , good or bad ?
I've done my share of beating on my ax15. I got it with 140k and put about 30k of hard use on it. I have a centerforce stage II clutch, and hurst shifter.
Now, I DON'T have a stroker, let alone a TURBO stroker, BUT i've drag raced it for 2 hard years. It's in an xj with ladder bars and 28" m/t et streets(read: STICKY
) and its out lasted a 8.8" trac loc (stripped it - haven't taken apart yet but its toast) and bent a thicker wall driveshaft while pulling the wheels about 10"(according to several people near starting line) on about 15 passes. (see avatar) I use synthetic in it and the last time i drained it I got a piece of alum about the size of my pinky nail out of it , but i think thats from missing 2nd with my old very worn out shifter.

If it will hold up to pulling the front tires then that's good enough. Sounds like my kind of ride
