low ambient temps + install ?

Man, it sure is getting cold around here. This is my first time putting an engine together, so I have no idea how much it matters. I get nervous enough just starting my truck that I know nothing is wrong with in the cold. I am extra nervous about getting the stroker in soon and its first start being 25* outside.

Is there any real concern here? Is there anything I should do differently or look out for?

I would try to heat the oil up or keep it in a warm place until your ready to put it in, prime, and fire. Get it fired and break the cam in.

I guess I should probably use a pretty light weight oil for the break in. Like 5-20 or something?

I could put a propane heater under the pan for a while, that might work well...

do you guys have block heaters there? if not propane heater underneath should be fine. but definately make sure the oil is warm and thin. 25 farenheit is just below freezing so it shouldnt be so bad.

use a standard 5W-30 with the proper cam break in lube.

Leave the oil in the house , but honestly, if the block is cold the oil will just cool down to block temperatures QUICKLY. there is a lot more thermal mass to the iron than oil.

A block heater would really be your best bet, get the WATER warm.
