ZJ long arm lift comparison

Post by strokedzj »

Ok, i'm going to be lifting my 98' grand cherokee and had my sights set on either the rusty's offroad 5.5" long arm kit or the BDS suspension 6.5" long arm kit. then i just ordered a kolak exhaust for my grand and talked to nick the owner and he suggested a lift company i've never heard of, clayton offroad. they offer a 7" long arm for around 3k like bds. so what i'm looking for is non-biased opinons/experience on what works, what breaks, and what is durable. i've seen rusty's used a lot on t.v. shows like trucks, xtreme 4x4, truck U, etc. all the vehicles they lifted looked and performed great but none of them have done a follow up on how they last or perform a year or two down the road. a friend of mine used rusty's 8" long arm on his 01' XJ but he only had the jeep for about a year or so. he loved everything about it but like i said he only had it for a year. so if you've used any of these kits or any other kits i didn't mention please fill me in on how it worked (or didn't), whether you loved it, hated it, or it was so so. all i ask is be honest because i don't really want to throw 2-3k in the wrong direction, i want something that will last and work well. thanks, joe

Clayton's is good stuff.

A lot of the Grand guys also like Iron Rock Offroad's long arm setup.
