505 roller cam clearance

Post by racing89 »

It seems I have to disass. my new 306 ci. stroker again because the roller lifters for my 505 roller cam obviously need major hogging for clearance to the block . Has any one had similer issues?

I had a solid roller back in the early 90's and the lifters needed clearancing in several places. On either end of the blocl by 1 and 6 and nearest the dist. on 3 and 4 was the worst.

i had to cleareance the lifter link bar guide pin on 3 and 4 (on each side of the distributor) .i only removed a little material at a time till i had the right clearence with a 4 inch grinder with a tiger sanding disk and kept the lifters wrapped with a towel to keep particles out. doin this does not affect were the link bar rider on the lifter or strenght of the guide pin.basicly check twice cut once.

after reading my last post i want to clearify that that i did this proceder away from the assembled motor not in the motor like it apears in my last post LOL. you will like the 505 cam.these lifters only require .002 to .004 preload something you are goin to have to set using a dial indicator. check comp cams web site under pro magnum roller lifters for youself.
