Erson cams?........

Post by 4.whoa »

Does anyone know what's up with Erson cams? I found one I like on Dino's cam page ,but have had no luck finding that ,or any erson's, for sale. @ erson-cams.com there are all kinds of prestolite companys, but not erson :?: what's up with that?

Well, I checked there and it keeps telling me "currently no one sells this product" It's been like that for a week or two  Summit (online anyway) has no matches for Erson at all and I can't ever find anything on jegs. Can you think of anywhere else I should look? I really like the (apparent) slow on-off seat rates(don't know the proper term) seems like they would make a nice and quiet valvetrain.

I apologize as my computer skills are less then stellar

You can have Bullet cams custom grind you one. Check thier web site to see if they have a cam grind close to the Erson cam specs that you like. http://bulletcams.com/Masters/Masters.htm
Look under "hydraulic cams" specs. These specs should be the easiest open and close ramps. They are for the small diameter chevy lifters. They also have grinds for the ford .875 lifters and the amc/chrysler .904 lifter. You can use any of the smaller ,chevy or ford, grinds on the .904 lifter.

Yeah I've noticed that. Another cam you could consider is the Crower 44915 or the smaller 44243 from my spreadsheet http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/Jeep4.0Camshafts.htm

Dwg- I just might go that route when i finally get going on my stroker 8-) , but for this i'd like to stay with something"off the shelf"

Dino- I actually noted the 44245 on my scribble pad as a next option. Do you think there would be much difference from the 44915 :?: It's going into a '87 xj 4wd 3.08 gears 5spd -not too sure on tire size, but NO bigger then 235 75 15. it'll be mostly a cross-country highway cruiser for Dad

I suggest you go for the shorter duration 44245 to maximize torque lower down the rpm range where you'll really need it. The lift specs are small enough to allow you to use the stock valve springs so that's a cost-saving bonus.
