ok here it goes. Purchased a 4.7 stroker block running a 12w 258 crank and what looks to be the KB dished aluminum pistons. Unsure of cam specs but its similar to the xtreme 4x4 cam for these motors. Stock refurbished HO head and intake running 24lb ford injectors and controlled by factory renix junk. heres the issue im at right now.
will start and idle rough when revved you can hear it missing by way of lowered rpm but its running smooth and no smoke or any other ugly symptoms. once the tps is calibrated right it will idle very rough and very low, it will then begin to cycle idling very high and smooth to falling on its face and stumbling sometimes causing it to shut off, carb cleaner to check for vac leaks but cant find any weve replaced or checked everything we can but it still does the same thing over and over... ive got a big ride in 3 days and unless i can get this licked im gonna be out of a jeep for the biggest event of the year

Re: help! 4.7 wont run right
I'm having the exact same issue with my 89 4.6 stroker running the ancient renix junk. I’m still trouble shooting but yesterday I found that unplugging the TPS completely solved all idle problems and an inherent miss under light throttle just cruzing - after unplugging the tps idle is so smooth I cant tell its running in the rig and drivability is amazing. The rig should not run this good without a tps. I once had one go out on the trail and had to unplug it to get it to idle down so I could get home, I was able to get it home but it wasn’t a fun drive. Currently I’m running 24# ford blue top injectors and all other sensors have been triple checked and replaced. Dist is dead on and crank position is dead on. I would like to find a permanent fix because I know I’m not getting 100% out of her without a tps but at this point I’m thinking a standalone fuel system may be required. If you have come up with another solution I would be indebted to know. Thanks

Re: help! 4.7 wont run right
MY 92 WITH A 4.5L STROKER DOES THAT SOMTIMES. I DID EVERYTHING YOU GUYS DID BUT I TOOK OUT THE IDLE AIR AND CLEANED IT WITH CARB CLEAN AND A TOOTHBRUSH. THAT HELPED A LITTLE. BUT IF I LET THE JEEP IDLE WHILE IT BEEING STUPID IT WILL CLEAR UP AND RUN FINE AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS OR SO.
