Dist. drive gear aux lube.

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

I`ve gone through two bronzes and now have a ferrous gear. Which might hold up. However, if the dizzy gear is harder then the cam. Then the cam drive for the dizzy is gonna be wearing. Rather replace dizzy gears then cam..........

Hesco is selling a kit that plumbs right off the HV pump and sprays a film of oil right at the dizzy gear via an outside line. 210 bones for something I think could be done for a few bucks.

I have a HV pump already so oil volume should not be a problem..

Am thinking of t-ing into the oil filter adapter at the oil pressure sending unit. Running a braided steel line up to the side of the block @ the dizzy gear. Drilling/tapping the block and making my own sprayer.

What I need is some idea of an orifice size and what to use as an orifice.

Off the top of my head I was thinking a nitrous spray nozzle but am honestly not familiar with them.

The cam gear is normally hardened to a much greater degree than the distributor gear so that the latter should wear out first. What concerns me is that hydraulic flat tappet cams produced in recent years may not be getting the quality of surface hardening treatment of the lobes/gear that is required to resist wear, and this is compounded by modern oils being low in ZDDP content. An oil spray bar supplying extra oil to the distributor/cam gear certainly won't hurt but I wonder how much it'll actually help given the two aforementioned considerations.
