Needed Gaskets?

Post by sudo chop »

The machine shop is almost done with my parts, and I am trying to get all of my stuff together so I can get it done quickly when it comes back. This is my first time doing this, however, and I am not sure what gasket set(s) to buy to get all of the seals and everything I need. Do I just need a head gasket set and a conversion gasket set? Also, what brand is best and where should I buy? Are there differences between the years? The block I am using is a 53010449 casting and the head is 0630, from a 99. Thanks

Get the Headset that matches the head and the Conversion Set that matches the block.

Yup, that's all you need. I purchased Fel-Pro gaskets. I even got a few extra gaskets that i didn't end up using. I think there were two styles of water pump gasket...

I recommend VICTOR gaskets, the head gasket is thinner so it will help the quench and the manifold gasket is graphite mesh, they seal better than ANY manifold gasket Ive ever seen from Felpro for an AMC six.
