OK guys, I realize this has been gone over. BUT, I'm too dumb to find what I'm looking for I guess. Looking to breath new life into an old CJ7.
Here's the deal. I'm on a limited budget. My trans is failing (t5) and I have access to a high mileage 4.0 and a 4.2 with a bad #1 piston for 60 bucks for both. I have about 750 bucks to spend to get a motor together and running. I'm trying to determine if I can come close by to building a 4.6 for this money? Just trying to figure out where to put the money to get a 4.6 together and wondering if it can be done on my budget. OR should I just go get a junkyard Cherokee motor, pulleys, radiator, and trans etc. and let it fly? My thoughts are I can do what needs to be done in increments. But I need some help planning out the project. I'm not an engine builder but have build a couple when I was a teen twenty years ago. If it would be worth spending another 300 or 400 and getting a kit then I will just figure out a way.
Feel free to e-mail me or PM me if you have stuff for sale or suggestions on where to spend the money I have in my budget.
Where to put the money?
