Camshaft Comparo

Post by Ruffestneckaround »

I'm looking for a new stick, I may stroke this motor (98 XJ) in the near future. I'm convinced I have a collapsed lifter so I'm going to replace them all as well as the cam and timing set. I'm leaning towards the Comp 68-201-4, 260 durations and 0.447" lift both sides...or a Crower 44243, 256/264 duration and 0.437/0.445" lift. I have a few questions,

1: Comp does not recommend this cam for Fuel injection, why not?
2: I have heard that the Comp Springs aren't compatible with the 4.0 head, is this true? Do I use Mopar springs then? What part number?
3: Will the Crower cam be FI compatible?
4: Will the Crower springs work?

I am open to suggestions of other cams, this is my DD that I pull a 21 foot ski boat with and go 4x4ing with as well.

What are you running? Do you like it? What were the hp/tq and fuel economy effects it any? What machine work did you have to do to make the springs work....I have alot of questions so please tell me the full story of your cam, I want to hear about it.

Thanks!
