New distributor, ignition coil, distributor cap, rotor?

Post by PolloLoco »

Bloody hell, do I need to buy all new ones of these or can I reuse anything stock? I'm running out of time, I move in five weeks, and I need to get this thing up and running! Which of these to y'all recommend as a must-replace?

Coil - Ignition

Distributor

Cap

Rotor

I'm just asking for recommended replacements while I have everything apart. I know that when a rebuilt motor gets assembled everything is (or should be) new, rebuilt, or cleaned to look as good as new.

I wouldn't replace all that stuff unless it was giving me trouble. Plugs for sure, probably cap & rotor but the coil shouldn't need to be replaced and if the wires are in good condition/not that old they shouldn't either. No reason at all that I can think of to replace the distributor unless there was a ton of wear on the cam gear.

None of those are a must replace, esp the coil. Clean up the contacts on the rotor and cap and if they look real worn, replace them. If the distributor shaft has a lot of play in it or gear looks worn, replace it.
