Which fuel pump?

Post by hvacman »

So I have the engine mounted and ready to go. This weekend I am running a new fuel line to the tank.

Which fuel pump is the best for a stroker? Also, I am wanting to change the injectors too. I was wondering which injectors to use too?

The engine is a 1996 4.0 from a Cherokee. I used the 258 crank and rods. The original 258 was carburated.

Any help would be appreciated.

allthough a walbro is an excellent pump, its an expensive overkill, get yourself an E2000 pump, 40$ on ebay and it will do the job quite well, I have one for over 1 year with no problems.
with the 90$ a new walbro cost's, you can get 2 E2000, one for the car and one as a spare.
good luck!

What is the difference in fuel pumps between years and is there a stock one that is superior? my vehicle is an 89 XJ. Is there a problem using the stock pump?

I am using a 93 HO manifold and throttle body with the Renix TPS. Was intending to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator so while I'm asking fuel questions what is the prefered adjustable regulator and who makes an adjustable map sensor?

My understanding is some later pumps are regulated in the tank so I'm guessing I would want to stay away from those. I have a tank I took out of another jeep cause we dented ours. How can you identify the in tank regulated pumps 'cause I have no idea what year the tank came out of as it was a couple years ago.

The stock 90lph fuel pump will work fine. It flows enough fuel to keep up with six 30lb injectors running at 80% duty cycle and feed 300 crank HP.
