I am collecting the parts to have a stroker built for me. I bought a 1984 258 crank and rods (4 weight) for $80 plus shipping. I was told per email the rods were "good". The seller then notified me after it's in route that one of the rods maybe bad (per email). Here was his wording "Since a bearing drops into the rod and no bearing was spun or grooved the rod on the crank side is like new. The wrist pin side is the problem area".
Question?
1. Can that be fixed at the machine shop when I take the crank to have it checked? Or am I stuck having to buy new rods?
2. If I have to buy new ones. Do I have to replace them all? Where do I get those from?
*This is a budget build for my 1993 Jeep YJ HO 4.0. Top end was done spring '09.
Thanks!

Re: Newbie: Question about connecting rods for stroker?
If the wrist pin hole is bad, it's junk.
You can replace just one, but you should have them balanced, the machine shop doing the balancing should be able to come up with one or a junkyard or?

You can also check ebay or local parts store to buy 1 connecting rod.
