Rivets on the mp head gasket?? Need help quick

Post by LetchcoreCJ7 »

What's up with the rivits on the mp head gasket? Wont they stop the head from mating properly with the block? Have others seen this? They look like brass and hold together the 3 layers.

Don't worry about it. They fall in areas where there is no block or head on at least one side of the gasket. When I first did a head gasket on the 4.0L using a MLS I had the same question.

Well I removed the rivets where they where going to hit a surface and left the ones that where not. Everything aligned up so all should be good! :rockout:

Those rivits are important to keep the gasket lined up correctly while you are installing the gasket. SB Fords have that same issue, we just drill a small hole in the block for the rivet to fit into, its not in a critical area.
