Re: Question about TB
Nice piece, but most people here are not willing to shell out $450.00 for a throttle body. Dino ( Cheromaniac) included. Here was his solution to an oversize throttle body.

Re: Question about TB
Totally...$450 for a TB is a little steep...that's what makes the 68mm dakota body so enticing ($60 ebay)...i think it might even be less expensive than my local machinist boring out a standard jeep tb. Plus, it looks like the factory sensors plug into the dakota tb as opposed to the splicing dino had to do.

You got that right!Plechtan wrote:Nice piece, but most people here are not willing to shell out $450.00 for a throttle body. Dino ( Cheromaniac) included.
Anyway, I think a 62mm TB is more than adequate for a mild 4.6 stroker like mine. Anything bigger (like my modified Mustang Cobra 65mm TB) is overkill unless you're building a higher HP stroker. Otherwise you'll find the throttle very sensitive on tip in which makes rockcrawling or offroading on slow trails quite a challenge. I spend 99.99% of my time driving my Jeep on the street so it's not an issue for me and I love the whipcrack throttle response.

Re: Question about TB
after fighting the touchyness of the 70mm, i finally broke down and swaped out to the factory TB. in comparision it is very lazy, and very controlable at crawling speeds. it cold starts better and to be honest, at WOT, i can't tell a difference in power, except maby right before the rev limiter. if anything i gained a small amount of bottom end off idle. maby, if i could fine tune the computer, i'd work with the 70mm, but for now, i'm keeping the stock TB.

How bout the TPS? I'd be sweet if we could all go the junkyard and get a 4.7 V8 throttlebody!lafrad wrote:is the IAC with this motor plug and play with the Jeep TB?

Re: Question about TB
I have been looking at the throttle cable connections and this TB(Dakota) opens the opposite way, how are you guys getting around this?

Re: Question about TB
i had the same problem on the ford unit i used. i ground the plate off the shaft, took off the butterfly, turned the shaft around and re-assemble, tack the plate back on the shaft.
this is it when i finished.
clicking on the pic makes it just big enough to see.

Re: Question about TB
I ended up going with the fastmans Jeep 62MM TB on my build. This was in conjunction with a 99+ upgrade and adding a Gibson Snorkel for cooler and more airflow.
